Diane Bunce, 2015 Outstanding Service to the Division Award

Year Awarded:
2015

Diane has served, in leadership roles, the Division of Chemical Education for more than twenty years including service on the Executive Committee in the Chair succession (1999-2001) and Member–at-Large (1993-1998). One of her most significant and demanding roles was serving as Chair of the Board of Publications (2007-2010). This was a critical period during which the Journal transitioned from a solely Division publication to an ACS/Division joint publication that is part of ACS Publications – a transition that Diane was instrumental in successfully facilitating. She has also served as Chair of the Recognition Committee, the Chemical Education Research Committee, and the ACS College Chemistry Consultant Service.

Diane was the Founding Editor of the Chemical Education Research Feature in the Journal of Chemical Education and served as a Journal Feature Editor for more than 15 years.  She was Editor of five exams produced by the ACS Examinations Institute and served on the Search Committee for the Director of the ACS Examinations Institute in 2001.

A prolific participant in CHED activities, Diane has also been both a presenter and symposium organizer at numerous Biennial Conference of Chemical Education and ACS National meetings.

Perhaps Diane’s most important contribution to the Division is her unending support of her Chemical Education colleagues whether they are peers at other institutions or young chemical education professionals. She gives freely of her time and shares her wisdom unselfishly.
