CHED International Travel Award Update, Spring 2012

The CHED-IAC completed the International Travel Award evaluation for 2011. The recipient of this year’s travel grant is Samuel Pazini from the Chemistry Department at the University of New Hampshire. Dr. Panzini requested funds to attend the 22nd International Conference on Chemical Education, July 15-20, 2012 in Rome, Italy, where he will present a paper on “Design and Assessment of an Intervention Strategy for Low Skilled Comprehenders in General Chemistry,” and build connections with the international chemistry community. Dr. Panzini will share his experiences at the conference with the CHED community by writing a report that will be published in the CHED newsletter. Additionally, Dr. Panzini will work with the IAC committee in organizing a symposium at either the BCCE conference or one of the ACS National Meetings in 2013. More information on the meeting can be found at http://www.iccecrice2012.org.

The award is designed to support a DivCHED member who attends and fully participates in an international chemical education conference held outside the U.S. Preference is given to junior and/or under-represented faculty members who have not had the opportunity to attend an international meeting in chemical education. Information about the travel award and deadlines can be found at the CHED website. If you or someone you know meet the criteria please encourage them to apply, the deadline for the submission of application for the 2012 CHED Travel Award is November 15, 2012.
