Introduction

Our committee’s purpose is to nominate DivCHED members for committee service and leadership opportunities within the Division. We seek to be inclusive of all members including chemical education practitioners and researchers across all levels of institutions as we try to match qualified individuals to service opportunities that they are interested in, have the appropriate skills to do and will benefit the Division.

Information Since Last Report
  • CPN thanks Roxie Allen, Nathan Grove and Dan King for their prior service on the committee and welcomes new members Rebecca Eikey, Laura Slocum and Jennifer Lewis.
  • CPN developed and presented the election slates for the ExComm leadership positions of Chair-elect, Treasurer and Councilor/Alternate Councilor (4 positions).
  • AACT liaison nominations have been moved to the Spring meeting agenda. This allows for timely appointment for this role that begins on July 1.
  • The committee proposed changes to the “Get-Involved” self-nomination DivCHED website form. Proposed changes are intended to allow individuals to share additional information about their interests and qualifications.

Future Plans
  • Co-chairs Gail and Laura will be rotating off of the committee at the end of 2023 and are working with Blain Mamiya who will be moving into the Chair role.
  • Our next major task will be to develop the election slate for open Board positions at the Fall 2023 meeting.
  • We are exploring the possibility of creating a CPN committee ‘divched.org’ email account that can be used for committee business.
Other
  • CPN strongly advises other division committees to consider and develop chair succession planning within each committee to ensure smooth transition and continuity of committee work.
  • CPN would like for ExComm to consider working with our committee (and perhaps other committees) to find intentional pathways for membership engagement. Not only would we like to find ways to "lift members up" through the division, we would like to have more formalized ways to broaden membership participation so that we are being more intentional about DEIR in the organization.
