Introduction

This position serves as the liaison between the division and AACT (American Association of Chemistry Teachers)

Information Since Last Report
  • New regional ambassadors have been assigned 
  • discussions for partnerships with 2YC3 have begun 
  • discussions on teacher day have started 
  • AACT continues to offer membership for $45 a year

The Governing Board discussed the following items during the meeting: 

  • Teacher Engagement and Burnout 
    • Review engagement dashboard, brainstorm new engagement ideas, discuss incentives 
  • Volunteer Purpose Statement 
    • Developing a strategy to ensure volunteerism is mutually beneficial, how to recognize effort 
  • ACS Chemical Technical Professionals 
    • Discussion on how AACT can support this initiative 

The Governing Board also discussed content compensation strategy and safety guidelines related to class size in a lab setting. We are also striving to diversify membership by attracting new members as broadly and inclusively as possible. We hope to work closely with SOCED, DivCHED, 2YC3, NOBCChE, and others in the coming months to advance these initiatives. 

The Governing Board will convene again via teleconference in February.
