The Division of Chemical Education, Inc. (CHED) selects one division member each year to receive the Outstanding Service to the Division Award. The award is presented at the spring ACS National Meeting during the Sunday evening CHED Reception.
Eligibility
Nominees must be members of CHED. Individuals currently holding division office or chairing a committee are not eligible until their term has expired.
Nomination Criteria
Nominations should document excellence and leadership in service to the Division — not simply a list of roles held, but the results achieved and their significance to CHED. Nominators should describe the outcomes and impact of the nominee's contributions in one or more of the following areas:
- Divisional offices held (please specify years served in each role)
- Committee service, as chair or member
- Board service, as chair or member
- Meetings organized, regional or national
- Symposia organized
- Biennial Conference on Chemical Education (BCCE) involvement
For each area of service cited, please explain what was accomplished — for example, an initiative launched, a problem addressed or solved, participation or membership growth achieved, a program's lasting impact on the Division, or recognition earned as a result of the nominee's leadership — rather than simply listing the position or activity.

Nomination Files to Upload:
- Two-page CV noting when the nominee became a member of the ACS Division of Chemical Education and emphasizing the nominee's service roles in the Division (see above).
- Primary and seconding nomination letters (seconding optional). Nominators must be current members of the Division. Limit each letter to 2 pages or 800 words, no smaller than 11-point font. If currently a faculty member, please write the letter on institutional letterhead. Upload files in PDF format.
- Award citation: Describe the nominee's most significant service and its impact on DivCHED and our community.
