In 2006, The Division of Chemical Education established an endowment to underwrite an Awards Program designed to recognize, encourage, and stimulate outstanding teachers of high school chemistry in the ten Regions of the American Chemical Society.

Nominees must be actively engaged in the teaching of chemistry or a chemical science in a high school (grades 9-12) on at least a half-time basis.

The Division of Chemical Education funds a Travel Award each year in support of a division member who presents and fully participates in an international chemical education conference held outside the U. S.

The awardee will have the responsibility to communicate information and insights gained at the conference to the membership through available DivCHED publications and by postings on the DivCHED Website.

The Division of Chemical Education, Inc. selects a division member each year for the annual DivCHED “Outstanding Service to the Division Award”. The award is presented at the fall National ACS meeting during the Sunday evening CHED Reception.

The vision of the Passers is to provide support for faculty in small programs and who are somewhat isolated from others in their discipline.  Eligible activities include professional development activities such as workshops related to enhancement of teaching skills that take the applicant away from his/her home institution.
