Announcements from the Board of Publications, Spring 2026

The Board of Publications (BoP) acts on behalf of the Division to support the publishing missions of the Journal of Chemical Education and ChemEd X, whose combined audience represents the entire spectrum of chemistry education professionals.

As 2025 ended we saw a transition in Chemical Education Xchange (ChemEd X). Jon Holmes, the founding Editor in Chief of ChemEd X, stepped down and welcomed the new Editor in Chief for ChemEd X, Jack Barbara. The BoP is deeply appreciative of the work that Jon has put into developing and growing ChemEd X. Under his leadership ChemEd X has become a vibrant community where high school teachers support each other and collectively share and reflect on best practices in teaching high school chemistry. We look forward to seeing ChemEd X continue to grow under Jack’s leadership. Jack is well respected in the Chemical Education community and cares deeply about supporting teachers. The BoP would also like to extend their deep thanks to Frank Torre and Michelle Head for their service on the Board. Frank and Michelle each served 9 years on the Board. We welcome two new members starting January 2026, Sachel Villafañe and Alexey Leontyev and thank Sally Hunnicutt for her willingness in stepping into the Treasure role with Frank Torre rotating off the Board.

If you haven’t checked out the new DivCHED website, we encourage you to check it out. While you are there, look at the many resources the Journal of Chemical Education and ChemEd X have to offer. For people looking to get more involved with DivCHED, the website provides several great suggestions. Also, the Journal of Chemical Education is always looking for new authors and reviewers and ChemEd X is always looking for contributors; other great ways to contribute to the Division!
