Hello members of the Division of Chemical Education. Just a few brief announcements since out last newsletter.
With Gratitude
I would like to recognize and thank Jennifer Lewis for her recent service as our Division Secretary. I would also like to thank Laura Anna for serving in the role of Interim Secretary and Zakiya Wilson-Kenney for serving in the role of Interim Councilor for this year. Our Division is fortunate to have a wealth of knowledgeable, service-oriented members without whom we could not do our work. Thank you to all of our volunteers serving across the Division.
Progress on our Strategic Plan
I am excited to share some updates on several aspects of our Strategic Plan. Perhaps most notable to our membership is our updated webpage (https://divched.org/). Here you will find a more user-friendly interface and an array of resources and opportunities supported by the Division of Chemical Education. We have spent a considerable amount of time and effort to curate our online presence. However, this is an ever-evolving project. We welcome and encourage your input and suggestions. To continue to promote community and collaboration, I would also like to personally invite you to attend the DivCHED Social Reception at the Fall ACS Meeting. This will be held on Sunday, August 17th from 5:00 – 6:30 pm in the Da Vinci Room at Carmine’s (https://carminesnyc.com/
Responsive Leadership
In an effort to be accessible and responsive to the DivCHED community, I continue to host a monthly community “Office Hour” on the second Wednesday of each month. Please feel free to attend at your convenience and share any successes or challenges that you might be having. This is intended to be an open, unstructured time for the DivCHED community to meet with the Chair of the Division. All are welcome.
