From the Immediate Past Chair, Thom Bussey, Spring 2026

I am very grateful to have been able to serve the 2025 Chair of the ACS Division of Chemical Education. This work was only possible because of the incredible efforts and commitments of all of you. In particular, many thanks to Resa Kelly and Gina Frey for your friendship and collaboration on the Chair Succession. Thank you to Kim Cortes and Steve Wietstock for your advice and support when I first joined the Chair Succession and now as I move into the role of Immediate Past Chair. Thank you to Laura Anna and Zakiya Wilson-Kennedy for your service as Interim Secretary and Councilor, respectively. Thank you to Heather Ryan for being the glue that holds us all together. And thank you to all of the incredible committee and board members and volunteers for your service.

As the work of the Division continues to move forward, I am beyond proud to look back on all of the progress we have made together over the past year. From the launch of our updated website and the formation of the Strategic Planning Oversight Committee (SPOC) to the reallocation of $1.71 million dollars to support a variety of initiatives including the newly launched Scholarships to BCCE 2026. To everyone that worked on these projects (and so many more), thank you! None of these successes are mine. They are yours. I am humbled to have been able to be involved in this work and look forward to continuing to be a part of a community committed to advancing chemistry education for all.

With gratitude,

Thom Bussey
Immediate Past Chair
