Past Chair Update, Dawn Del Carlo, Fall 2021

Greetings DivCHED Members!

I am humbled to be writing my final letter to you all from my role within the Chair succession for the Division of Chemical Education. I reflect back on my time serving this organization and can only hope I have served the organization and its many dedicated members well. While I do not feel I accomplished the goals I set out at the beginning (SO much has happened since then!), I do believe the Division has moved forward in many ways since I started in 2019. Of course, this was not solely my own doing and was not possible without the many wonderful people I had the pleasure of working with over the years: Cheryl Frech, Irv Levy, Stacey Lowery Bretz, Vicente Talaquer, Dan King, David Licata, Rick Moog, Cathy Middlecamp, MaryKay Orgill, Dan Sykes, John Michael Sophos, Deanna Cullen, Patrick Daubenmire, Gail Webster, Alex Grushow, Kristen Murphy, Ellen Yezierski, Tom Holme, Roxie Allen, Sally Mitchell, Clarissa Sorensen-Unruh, all of the committee chairs for the 20 different Division committees, and last but certainly not least, Heather Johnson (who is champion of “herding cats” and getting things done). To you all, I sincerely thank you for your service to the Division and for making my job that much easier as a consequence. Truly, it has been an honor to serve along side such a wonderful group of people. I am confident that our individual paths will continue to overlap in many ways moving forward, and I look forward to the opportunities that overlap produces. Until then, I wish you all the best.
