I hope you are doing well in these challenging times. For many of you, the summer is rapidly coming to a close and you are preparing to return to the classroom. I wish you all a smooth return and a successful year.
Next month, we will hold our annual Division election. We will again use Survey Monkey for the election, so keep an eye out for an email with the link to the ballot. Please be sure to let me know if there are any problems with the ballot or the election process in general. Here is the slate for this year’s election.
Chair-elect: Kathy Carrigan and Resa Kelly
Secretary: Jennifer Lewis and Steven Wietstock
Member-At-Large: Deanna Cullen and Amiee L Modic
Best of luck and thanks to all of the candidates for volunteering to serve the Division. We hope that all members will vote in the election and participate in choosing those who represent our Division. We encourage all members who are interested in becoming more involved in the Division to email me (daniel.king@drexel.edu) or the Chairs of CPN (Committee on Personnel and Nominations) (Gail Webster, gail.h.webster@gmail.com, and Laura Anna, laura.anna@montgomerycollege.edu). A good place to start is to volunteer to serve on one of the Division committees. We would be happy to help you to identify a committee that aligns with your interests and/or expertise. You can also find more information about the various committees here on the Division website.
Congratulations to the 6 Division members who have been named as ACS Fellows this year. You will be able to find a list of them on the Division website.
As you will notice, I am not on the ballot for Secretary. This means that this report will be my last as Secretary/Councilor. I would like to thank everyone for the opportunity to serve the Division in this role. I also want to thank all of the members of ExComm along with Heather Johnson, who have helped me to do this job. I have enjoyed getting to meet many of you over the past six years. It has been an honor and a pleasure to represent you in this capacity and give back to the Division some of what the Division has given to me. I feel confident that the Division is in a good position moving forward.
If you will be in Chicago for the Fall Meeting, I hope to see you there. If not, I hope to see you at a future meeting.
