Greetings from the International Activities Committee (IAC)!  Spring 2025

International Travel Award

One of the Division of Chemical Education’s key initiatives is to support global research collaboration by providing an annual travel award of $2,500 to help an ACS DivCHED member attend international conferences. This year, the IAC has selected Dr. Betty C. Galarreta for this award, supporting her travel from South America to the Spring ACS National Meeting in San Diego.  At the conference, Dr. Galarreta will organize a symposium titled "Student Chapters Leading the Way in Global Chemical Education Innovation" and will also present her chemistry education research in a separate symposium. The committee is proud to support this junior faculty member in sharing her work and engaging with the ACS community!

IUPAC Global Women's Breakfast 2025

On February 11, 2025, the IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast (GWB2025) brought together 449 events across 78 countries. Held in conjunction with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science,The Breakfast aims to build an active network of individuals working to break down barriers to gender equality in science.

Over the past seven years, nearly 2,500 GWB events have taken place in 100 countries. This year, the International Activities Committee (IAC) supported GWB2025 by offering office hours for new organizers. In the U.S., a total of 22 academic institutions hosted events to participate in this global initiative.  Thank you for being part of this movement and for helping to Accelerate Equity in Science!
