Biennial Conference Committee The Biennial Conference Committee selects the sites for the BCCE, and provides support and communication between those conducting previous BCCEs and those developing future Conferences. The activities of the committee span a two-year cycle.
GRFP: A Graduate student’s Reflection on Framing her Potential Katherine Lazenby reflects on her journey applying for the NSF GRFP, emphasizing that success comes not from being a particular “type” of person, but from learning to confidently frame one’s experiences through self-promotive writing, early revisions, and broad feedback—transforming even “underwhelming” research into a compelling narrative of growth and leadership.
Chemistry Education Research (CER): Where we came from, where are we now, and where can we go? Debbie Herrington and Ryan Sweeder trace the evolution of Chemistry Education Research (CER) from its informal beginnings to a recognized discipline, highlighting its growing methodological sophistication, impact on teaching, and challenges ahead—including the need for broader dissemination of findings, inclusive community-building, and continued focus on research that improves chemistry education for diverse learners.
