Report Period
-
Introduction

During this time, the Dorther and Moses Passer Educational Grant Committee was further charged with administering the DivCHED Travel Awards. As such, our committee changed names to now reflect the broader mission. The Passer Award Committee is now the Professional Development & Travel Awards Committee.

Information Since Last Report

The committee was charged with accomplishing several tasks in 2026:

  1. Construct a call for new committee members. The composition and size of the committee is open to conversations and can be directly communicated to the Chair of CPN (Blain Mamiya, blain.mamiya@utsa.edu).
  2. Expand responsibilities to streamline and enhance the administration of all travel awards, including: aligning timelines, improving communication and application processes, and standardizing evaluation through a clear rubric.
  3. Revitalize the Passer Award to emphasize its role as a professional development award. Help to promote applications and consider conversations about award limits, timing, and virtual training options. Will involve treasurer and likely donors.
  4. Consider establishing a liaison (formal or informal) to the DivCHED IAC for sharing of their travel processes and protocols.
  5. Update websites  and operations manuals Passer Committee website and operations manual Recognition Committee website and operations manual
  6. Continue to review and award Passer grants and now Travel Grants
