The Strategic Plan Oversight Committee (SPOC) works to support transparency, collaboration, and accountability in developing and executing the Division’s Strategic Plan, in support of the Division’s vision and mission. SPOC was newly staffed and charged in March 2025, and has been working to establish its policies and procedures while providing continuing support to the ongoing Strategic Plan and Strategic Projects Fund.
Since SPOC's inception in March 2025, we have:
- Outlined our responsibilities and approach and draft a committee Operations Manual
- Established a structure for engaged in quarterly meeting with strategic plan teams and tracking team progress, outputs, and next steps
- Engaged in quarterly strategic plan (SP) team meetings and provided additional assistance to SP team members as needed
- Established a structure for reviewing Strategic Project Fund (SPF) applications and making funding recommendations
- Reviewed SPF applications and provided funding recommendations
- Developed a structure for renewing SP work after SP Teams have completed their objectives
- Provided updated language for the SPOC committee webpage
Ahead of the 2026 ACS Spring Meeting, we aim to:
- Prepare and submit recommendations for the next iteration of strategic plan work
- Continue quarterly meetings with and support of strategic plan teams
- Continue quarterly review of SPF applications and funding recommendations
- Clarify and streamline the SPF application and review process, such that it is easier for members to recognize alignment with and apply for SPF funding
- Finalize the committee operations manual for inclusion on the DivCHED website
- Expand and revise the Strategic Plan website
- Prepare an open hybrid SPOC business meeting at the 2026 ACS Spring Meeting
We did not receive a notice with instructions for submitting a budget request, and have discussed this with the treasurer. We would like to ensure 1-2 members of the committee can be present in-person at ACS Spring 2026, for an open hybrid-format committee business meeting. We will reach out to the chair succession about this in the coming months.
